WTBQ CELEBRATES ITS' 40TH ANNIVERSARY!

dedicated WTBQ's tower posthumously

to Ed Klein, WTBQ's founder.

The tower ceremony took place

at 11:10 AM on July 27th, 2009,

40 years to the date WTBQ began broadcasting.

Walt Popailo, Benzee and Cyndee

in front of WTBQ's studios

for a barbeque after the tower ceremony.


Cub Scout Pack 488 from Monroe visited the WTBQ broadcast studios in October of 2009 and were guests of the “Into The Weekend with Walt and Benzee” program that airs every Friday from 12 noon to 2 p.m.

Meeting with the boys before the show is co-host Erwin “ Benzee” Benz, right, with scout master Mike Endrizzi. The scouts toured the studio and were on-air guests for the show. With Benzee’s participation, the boys earned their communications badge. The kids also got a chance to meet local race champion Chuck McKee from Orange County Speedway and see the inner workings of a radio station.
